October 12, 2018 - Summer 2018 Recap!
On August 24th, Lay-Up concluded our 2018 summer camps. Together, we were able to provide programs for over 414 children across 5 priority communities in the City of Toronto. The summer was our best to date and filled with fun, friends, skill development and IMPACT!

Lay-Up Youth Basketball is excited to announce that we have been awarded $50,000 as part of the Regent Park Athletic Grounds (RPAG) Grant. The $50,000 grant will directly support the growth of Regent Park Lay-Up Basketball Camps from 2017 to 2021, providing an expansion of the organization’s existing programming and other services in the Regent Park neighbourhood. A previous recipient of the RPAG grant in 2016, Lay-Up will run 4 summer camps, 2 after school programs, and 1 March break camp annually to tackle challenges faced by its participants through its comprehensive social curriculum.

Lay-Up Youth Basketball is excited to announce the appointment of a new Board of Directors, a diverse group of leaders from the corporate, community, education and basketball worlds. Lay-Up welcomes Charles Kissi, Chris Harris, Eric Moncik, Jason Kandankery, Jason Melbourne, Jermaine Anderson, Jon Dwyer, Michael Simonetta, and Trevor Bullen.

After receiving charitable status in September of 2017, Lay-Up set about assembling the new Board to help the organization scale up and expand its presence to all communities in need across the GTA. The Board members will be tasked with ramping up fundraising efforts, producing strategic planning initiatives, improving measurement and evaluation, increasing community involvement, developing new corporate partnerships, and building out a management team.
