Lay-Up programs are cost-free for children and youth (6-14) in Neighbourhood Improvement Areas across the city of Toronto.

As we navigate COVID-19, our programs include a combination of virtual and contactless in-person options.

School-Year Program

Lay-Up school-year programs are designed to develop fitness, basketball, and life skills in a space where youth can safely connect and compete. It includes lunch and after-school in-person programs and virtual program sessions.   

It will be delivered with activities designed for participants to perform individually, with their own equipment, while maintaining 2 meters of physical distance (for in-person setting). From program set up to dismissal, Lay-Up coaches are prepared to execute engaging and challenging activities, while adhering to all protocols outlined in the Lay-Up Safety Plan.

Virtual: At Home (Start Date: January 10, 2022)

In-Person: Yorkwoods Public School (Start Date: March 5th, 2022)

Time Commitment: 60 min weekly sessions from Nov - April


Girls-Only Program


Lay-Up's Girls Only Program (GOP) is an elite experience that leverages basketball to spark a life-long love of sports and to develop the skills needed on and off the court.

Lay-Up x beyond 3:30

Starting on November 8th, Lay-Up will be partnering with the Toronto Foundation for Student Success to provide our contactless basketball program at beyond 3:30 sites across the city.


Locations include Brookview Middle School, Carleton Village Jr & Sr Sports Wellness Academy, Dixon Grove Jr Middle School, Dr. Marion Hillard Sr Public School, Emily Carr Public School, Joseph Brant Public School and Lawrence Heights Middle School.


To attend, you must be a student at that school and registered in their beyond 3:30 program.


Virtual School Day

Our Virtual School Day program brings Lay-Up coaches into virtual TDSB classrooms to provide physical activity and skill building rooted in basketball through games, exercises and challenges. Sessions range from 45-60 minutes and are delivered from our 8 week curriculum that does not require any equipment to participate.

Participants must be attending virtual school to attend.

Photobook Workshop Series

Lay-Up is excited to announce the Photo Book Workshop Series supported by the Toronto Arts Council. 


Led by a team of professional photographers (Dhani Oks, Ebti Nabag, Kishan Mistry, and Nyaomi), participants will be a part of the creation of a photobook, learning the process from start to finish.


This program is for Lay-Up participants 12+ and all equipment and resources needed will be provided.

Sneaker Authentication Workshop

Lay-Up is thrilled to offer our first Sneaker Authentication Workshop in partnership with eBay Sneakers Canada.

Through this workshop, participants will learn how to tell the real from the fake in the world of sneakers and will be introduced to the rapidly growing sneaker resell market.

Featuring Josh B. Scott (Authentication Specialists - eBay Canada) and Shireen Edross (Head of Sneakers - eBay Canada), this workshop will bring you deep into the exciting world of the rarest and most sought after sneakers.

Crossover Program

The basketball industry in Toronto is growing and opportunities to work in and around the game are increasing. The Lay-Up Crossover program is for youth ages 15-29 who want to develop new skills and work in the basketball industry. Participants in Crossover are paid for the time while receiving valuable certifications, key creative industry skills and incredible networking opportunities.

Date: April 4th - May 23rd, 2022
Time: 6:00 - 8:00 PM
Day of the week: Monday
Duration: 8 weeks
Location: Virtual (Zoom)
