Lay-Up programs are cost-free for children and youth (6-14) in Neighbourhood Improvement Areas across the city of Toronto.
As we navigate COVID-19, our programs include a combination of virtual and contactless in-person options.
Check out the details on the programs we offer and registration options below.
The Lay-Up Virtual Program is a one-hour session on Zoom where participants will work on basketball skills and take part in fun and engaging physical activity designed for any part of your home.
Our Lay-Up coaches will bring you through our 8 week curriculum with games, skill work, physical fitness and home challenges.
Offered weekdays in the evening and in the afternoon on weekends, participants can register for one session per week.
Virtual School Day
Our Virtual School Day program brings Lay-Up coaches into virtual TDSB classrooms to provide physical activity and skill building rooted in basketball through games, exercises and challenges. Sessions range from 45-60 minutes and are delivered from our 8 week curriculum that does not require any equipment to participate.
Participants must be attending virtual school to attend.
The Lay-Up contactless basketball program will be delivered with activities designed for players to perform individually, with their own equipment, while maintaining 2 meters of physical distance. From program set up to dismissal, Lay-Up coaches are prepared to execute engaging and challenging activities, while adhering to all protocols outlined in the Lay-Up Safety Plan.
Registration is currently open to residents of the Driftwood community with limited spaces at the Christian Centre.
Girls Only Program
Lay-Up's Girls Only Program (GOP) is an elite experience that leverages basketball to spark a life-long love of sports and to develop the skills needed on and off the court.
Currently, our girls only program is being offered virtually.
Lay-Up x beyond 3:30
Starting on November 9th, Lay-Up will be partnering with the Toronto Foundation for Student Success to provide our contactless basketball program at beyond 3:30 sites across the city.
Locations include Joseph Brant Public School, Greenholme Junior Middle School, Lawrence Heights Middle School, Portage Community School and Tecumseh Senior Public School.
To attend, you must be a student at that school and registered in their beyond 3:30 program.
Virtual Basketball Photography
Over the course of 5 weeks, participants will learn the fundamentals of photography from expert instructors and will gain hands on experience with the camera.
We all love taking pics on our phones and sharing them with our friends and family. Photography is just the way we communicate these days. Learning the art of photography is like learning a language that will help you impact people in deep and lasting ways.
Instructed by celebrated NBA and MLB photographer Kishan Mistry and commercial photographer Dhani Oks who will lead participants in weekly online sessions and provide inspiration and information to transform their photography through fun and exciting basketball inspired photo challenges and a positive discussion with useful feedback and tips.
This program will have a combination of live sessions on Zoom and home challenges, all based in the culture of basketball.
